Facts about Goodwill

Goodwill Industries of Central Alabama, Inc. (GICA) is an independent 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, which was established in 1968, based on a need assessment recommended by the River Region United Way, known at that time as the United Appeal Agency. The regional Goodwill’s are all connected by Goodwill Industries International (GII). GII is based in Rockville, Maryland and is the Member Service Center that assigns territories, facilitates Goodwill’s working together, and oversees the Goodwill brand.

To provide training, vocational rehabilitation and employment opportunities for people with disabilities or other vocational problems which result in barriers or limitations to competitive employment.

Our Vision

To be the River Regions’ quality nonprofit provider of workforce development services that not only enable individuals, having barriers to employment, increase their personal vocational and economic independence, but also meet the workforce needs of employers.
